Shelby Park and Bottoms Davidson Co. Nashville, TN 2011 April 21 7:15-9:05am partly cloudy, cool I walked the path around hill at the Shelby Park dog walk area. I had nice views of an adult male BALTIMORE ORIOLE as well as an immature male ORCHARD ORIOLE in the same tree. ORANGE-CROWNED and PALM WARBLERs are still coming through Nashville in numbers, but the number of warbler species was low today (just 6 between the park and bottoms), and I found NO BLACKPOLLs. A male INDIGO BUNTING and a singing WOOD THRUSH added to the variety. I walked the short loop around Shelby bottoms and found a solitary SOLITARY SANDPIPER at the pond in phase I. A pair of RED-SHOULDERED HAWKs circled and a pair of COOPER'S HAWKs hushed the bird life for a time.
