Plum Point Dikes Lauderdale Co. TN Saturday afternoon, after quite a few years of being locked out of this location, a farmer, I ran into up there, showed me a new way into this sandbar. It was like the old Island 13 days, excellent shallow pools, lots of species and HOT sand. I could have gone swimming and not gotten any wetter than on the long walk out to the pools, but it was worth it. I looked at 3 pools and found 18 species of Wind Birds, the most note worthy were; 2- Black-bellied Plover (first of season for me), immature Piping Plover (no band), 2 - Black-necked Stilt, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Willet, adult male Ruddy Turnstone, 3 immature Sanderling and 1 immature Baird's Sandpiper. A long day out there might get 23-25 species but I was not set up for the heat. I had 3 Buff-breasted Sandpipers, Sunday on Tiptonville Bar and 6 at Lake 9 in KY. TWENTY ONE WIND BIRD SPECIES FOR THE WEEKEND. Good Birding!!! Jeff R. Wilson OL'COOT / TLBA Bartlett, TN
