14 Sept 2006 Ensley Bottoms Area Memphis, Shelby County, TN

Location: TE Maxwell Lagoons

Observation date: 9/14/06

Notes: Numbers are down since beginning of week but still impressive.
Starlings are starting to mass up in the fields, 200-500, in several big
flocks. Several Starlings got themselves trapped in the muck in Pond 1.
Majority of the Lesser Yellowlegs in the second big Pond in the back. Most
other birds were mixed flocks of Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers with
Pectorals mixed in. Rough estimate 750-1000 each of the little peeps. Pects
(75) were mixed all around where the Yellow Legs were more grouped together.
Most birds were grouped together in the middle to far side of the levee (No
Scope) very few birds up close. No Raptors today. Birds were edgy today
maybe they new something was watching that I didn't see. Several magnificent
lift-offs of several flocks at a time. They would circle then land back
where they started. Cool day 80-85 slight breeze.
