17 Sept 2014 Soddy Mtn Hawk Watch Hamilton Co., Tn We had an average day at the look out today with good numbers of Broad-winged Hawks. The first couple hours started slowly followed by an hour of 101 birds followed by several more slow hours. The last two hours from 4 until 6 were very good. We saw a total of 436 Broadie's for the day. Tomorrow morning we will only need 21 birds to establish our record of 50,000 Broad-wings seen over the years. I feel certain this in a new record for a single hawk watch location within the confines of Tennessee during the Fall even if it has taken twenty one and a third seasons! We'd love to have visitors join us tomorrow. Most of the regular counters will be on site by 9AM. Keep looking up...
