One Least Bittern at Standifer Gap Marsh 9 AM August 16, 2002 among cattails at north margin of water. One Solitary Sandpiper Three Sandpipers which looked like Semipalmated. Two Hummers,- I'm always surprised to see them among the cattails and water plants. Dick's Sporting Goods, across from Gunbarrel Road Walmart, has nice hip-waders for $20 (they have some almost as nice up to $200). Waders and a 5-foot walking stick make it easy to explore the marsh. They are good for the tall wet weeds, poison ivy, and briars, as well as for the muck and water. Try them on; I found I needed a 9 instead of my 10 shoe size.
