November 15, 2002 Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga Snow Goose, Lesser, 1 dark adult in green grass between black top road and marsh, near pond. I was able to observe it about 100 feet from my truck window for the 15 minutes or so it took to take a page of notes and compare it to guides. To save space, it matched the Dark adult standing illustration page 79 in Sibley's, including yellow-pink upper mandible and dark lower mandible, and pink legs, and the noticable white stripes lengthwise on the wing, except for dull dark gray patches around the eyes, looking like some juvenile color remaining. It also flew a short distance and displayed the dark juvenile pattern as viewed from above. It was still there when I left, 11:30 AM, but I couldn't find it a half hour later when I passed the spot again.
