Kennesaw Farms, Gallatin, TN Sumner County 8:05 am
Spurred my Michael Smith's post about Grasshopper Sparrows in Davidson County,
I drove to Kennesaw Farms area in Gallatin, TN this morning, and heard a
singing Grasshopper Sparrow as soon as I rolled down my window. I parked
behind the Goddard School, found it perched on a wooden stake, and took some
photos. It moved around to other perches while I was listening in vain for
others. This grassy patch has been developed more and more over the past
couple of years, and the wooden stake used as a perch means more is likely
coming. Eventually the sparrows may run out of space here, but Volunteer State
Comm. College right up the road has some very similar habitat.
