I have been surveying the Tennessee River from Chickamauga Dam to the
Vincent Road landing for the last couple trying to monitor the waterbird
migration. Have not yet seen the big rafts of ducks we usually see by
now, but still some interesting movement including four hen Surf Scoters
just upriver from the Vincent Road landing (yesterday 11/24). Some
other highlights included:

61 Common Loons (spread throughout)

75 Horned Grebes (broken up in about four rafts)

2 Red-breasted Mergansers

2 Bufflehead (expect more by now)

1 Black Duck (we sometimes see small numbers of Black Ducks out in
middle of the channel this time of year)

31 Banaparte's Gull

21 Ring-billed Gull
