TN-Birders:

        Of course we are not having a contest but I thought some of
the following statistics would be of interest.  

        Since TN-Birds went online with the new listserver in February,
1045 message have been posted.

        The net has 354 addresses subscribed
                          193 addresses have never posted
                          108 have posted     1-5 times
                            22 have posted   6-10 times
                            10 have posted 11-15 times
                            11 have posted 16-20 times
                              7 have posted 21-30 times
                              3 have posted 31-57 times

                            15% of addresses subscribed
                             provide 78% of postings
                             enjoyed by TN-Birds subscribers

                            Another 31% of the subscribers
                            provide the remaining 22% of
                            the messages posted.

                            54% do not post.

        I don't think there is anything here out of the ordinary for 
most similar lists.

        That 15% of the subscribers who post 78% of the
messages to TN-Birds are certainly among the state's most active
birders and are willing to regularly share what they see with others
subscribers.  

        One might conclude that most subscribers are not
as active birders and not able to make many trips afield and / or
do not feel either inclined to post or don't feel they have anything
of interest for other subscribers to read.

        100% of those subscribed enjoy TN-Birds to whatever
extent it serves their interest and that is very important to us all.
       
        Thanks to the posters and thanks to the lurkers.  We need
you all and appreciate everyone who cooperates with the spirit
of TN-Birds.
