A little late getting this posted. I didn't really have time to stop and
count so this is a quick passing by observation. Located in a harvested
corn field in Pool 4 off Refuge Lane was a group of resident Canada geese
along with around two dozen Cackler Geese (presumably Richardson's race), 6
- 8 snow geese, several white-fronted geese, a domestic goose, and a single
sandhill crane.

Most refuge access will close at dark on Monday November 14. There are no
gun deer hunts occurring this last weekend at TN NWR. There will still be
at least one road open through each of the units for observation, as usual.
I know at Duck River there has been an increase in the past several years
of individuals walking down the side roads and levees right past Area
Closed signs. Please pay attention to the signs. You will be ticketed if
caught by Law Enforcement staff. A lot of people also don't understand
that walking off the main road, during this closed period, to go out across
farm fields to reach the lake, other impoundments, or to search for
sparrows in fields is also not allowed after this date. This type of
activity still causes disturbance to waterfowl and to the sparrows, which
also need to be protected from disturbance the same as the waterfowl.
Simply put activities are limited to the roads open to vehicle traffic.
The exceptions are the trails leading to observation platforms.

Have fun and enjoy watching our feathered friends.
