I was in the area Tues afternoon so ran by Rankin WMA on Douglas Lake in Cocke Co, TN. Similar species as others have reported. Heat waves and distance made viewing difficult. I walked to the shade at the point near the tipple. Some highlights, most numbers, especially the larger ones, are approximate... Blue-winged Teal, 6 Black Tern, at least 16 Caspian Tern, 2 Forster's Tern, 5 Common Tern, 1 Ring-billed Gull, ~20 including 1 juvenile Killdeer, 50+ Semipalmated Plover, ~15 Black-bellied Plover, 1 Am Golden-Plover, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 10+ Lesser Yellowlegs, 6-8 Solitary Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 1 Sanderling, 1-2 Pectoral Sandpiper, ~50 Least Sandpiper, 75-100 Semipalmated Sandpiper, ~20 Western Sandpiper, 4-5 Baird's Sandpiper, 2 Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 16 Short-billed Dowitcher, 5-6 Plus usual assortment of Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, and DC Cormorants and at least 1 Green Heron and a Pileated WP calling almost constantly.
