Cove Lake State Park
Campbell County, TN N. of Knoxville.

Late afternoon today I saw a smallish looking white heron near the
back viewing tower at Cove Lake. Turned out to be an Immature Little Blue Heron
in all white plumage. Nice bird for Cove. The bird had a light grey bill,
thicker at the base than Snowy Egret, as well as greenish yellow legs.
I doubt this heron will stay long with the deeper water levels. He was fishing
while standing on a limb out in the water.

3 Double Crested Comorants were also present.

With all the recent rain, the "mud flat" area near the tower is completely
submerged. I'd hoped to see more shorebirds there this fall.
Blue Wing Teal should show any day now.
