Tiptonville Bar,
Miss. River
Reelfoot Lake
Lake Co. Tn.
I birded for several hours yesterday morning (8-30-05) and did not find any of
the hurricane driven birds. The North part of the Tiptonville bar at
Tiptonbville had very little bird activity on the bar and at least three Black
terns flying in with the hundreds of N. Rough wings. There was one Osprey and
some Great Blues. I drove down to Sheeps Ridge road and to the ramp area and
birded the south end of the Tiptonville Bar and found three Black Terns, Two
Caspians and probable Foresters. Visibility across to the bar was not good.
Hard enough to get a good look at the Caspians. I drove out to the North road
to Is. 13 which was a waste of time. The south road is chained. On the way home
I looked at Reelfoot lake at Keystone and Champy Pocket. did find aprox. 15+
Least Terns at Keystone.
