On November 8th, 2014, the NTOS field trip will take place at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in Decatur, Alabama. We will be meeting at 8:00 AM in the Visitor's Center parking lot (3121 Visitor Center Road, Decatur, AL 35603). Once there, we’ll attempt to gather into a smaller caravan by carpooling, since we will be traveling behind locked gates into special areas of the refuge. Dwight Cooley, Project Leader for Wheeler NWR, will lead us. Dwight has set an agenda of sites to visit, beginning and ending at the Visitor’s Center; and as has been the tradition when we visit Wheeler, we will stop for a dutch-treat BBQ lunch at the Greenbrier Restaurant. Participants should dress for the weather, bring scopes if they have them, as well as water and snacks. It should be a wonderful day of birding.... If you are planning to attend the field trip, please shoot me an email (chloebelle119@xxxxxxxxx). Wheeler is around 2 hours from Nashville, so if carpooling to and from the Visitor's Center is of interest, also let me know. Click here for more info about the refuge. Everyone - beginning and expert birders alike - are encouraged to join us! Good birding, Chloe Walker Murfreesboro, TN www.chloesbirdingblog.blogspot.com
