A few notes from the last couple days: Little Elder Island, Woods Res, Franklin Co., 3 June 2014 Snowy Egret - 4, at least one nest almost on the ground Cattle Egret - 75+ nests on the ground Great Egret - 6 nests on the ground Double-crested Cormorant - one nest on the ground FISH CROW - two calling continuously on the island No Little Blue Herons this year Bennett Lake area on Nickajack above the dam (and east of I-24), Marion Co. Fish crow - 2, more expected here than at Woods Res. Grundy Co - not too far from Goose Pond, 3 June 14 Cattle Egret - 8. Little Elder Island isn't all that far away as an egret flies. Likely long commute to feed and stand on cattle (one was standing on a cow) Percy Priest Lake, 4 June 2014 Rutherford Co - upstream from the Lamar Hill Boat Ramp in Smyrna - 8 breeding plumage BLACK TERNS Davidson Co - off Long Hunter SP, one non-breeding plumage BLACK TERN Pear Island rookery off Long Hunter SP - a least 12 Cattle Egret.
