[TN-Bird] Warner Parks - Olive-sided & Yellow-bellied Flycatchers

I birded the Warner Park Burch Reserve in Nashville this morning and found
an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER perched high on exposed branches over looking the
meadow. Other migrants were few, but I was also treated to a pair of
Ovenbirds foraging together and a Broad-winged Hawk soaring high in the
vicinity of a kettle of vultures.
I then went across the street to the Edwin Warner Park Nature Center,
reported the OSFL to Heather Gallagher, and went back to the creek to look
for the third time this week for a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER which was
caught and banded by Sandy Bivens on Tuesday, optimistic that it might
still be around. The third time was a charm, as I located the (or another)
bird foraging in the mid level tree canopy. It did not vocalize, but
exhibited a bright yellow belly and throat, along with stout wingbars and a
bold eye ring. Northern Parula, Magnolia Warbler, and American Redstarts
were also present, as well as Swainson's Thrush and Scarlet Tanager.
I ran into Heather on the way out and gladly walked back in to try to
relocate the flycatcher. We were unsuccessful at that, but we were rewarded
with a gorgeous fall Blackburnian Warbler bathing at close distance in the
creek with an American Goldfinch.
On a sidenote, there was also an owl presentation going on in the nature
center to a group of school kids, in the same room as the ongoing bird
photography show there. Attached photo is of the celebrity guest, who
seemed particularly interested in one of Chris Sloan's photographs on the
back wall..
