SUN 16 APR 2017
Cherokee Rd., Washington Co., TN
D. Holt, D. Draper

One Mississippi Kite flew over the house this afternoon above treetop level
towards the NE in flat out powered flight.  The bird was generally gray with
evenly dark, long, narrow, slightly notched tail; long, evenly narrow, pointed
wings; deep wingbeats not too fast, flexing gracefully on both the upstroke and
downstroke.  Its flight appeared buoyant and effortless even when it suddenly
turned 90 degrees straight up, rising over 100 ft, then turned 90 degrees
horizontal and to the left.  Dianne suspects that it might be the same, or a
similar, bird that she saw here yesterday.
