Hi All,

Jan Shaw and I visited Nickajack Lake today with hopes
of seeing the Western Grebe. Thanks to John Henderson's
excellent directions we found our target bird in short
order. The light was just right and we had great looks
at this lovely bird.

After viewing the grebe we went to Chattanooga, making
stops at Brainerd Levee and Standifer Marsh. American
Pipit and Green-wing Teal were best birds at Brainerd.
A large group of Gadwalls and lots of sparrows were seen
at Standifer. This was my first time for both of these
great locations and I look forward to going back again.

I can't think of a better way to have spent this first
full day of winter.

Gary Casey
Kingston Springs, Tn.
