Hi all, After 3 weeks in Australia it is good to be back in Tennessee. Over the weekend I enjoyed seeing some spring birds on the NTOS outing Saturday and my visit to Radnor Lake with Jan Shaw on Sunday. However, like the Radnor sapsucker and WINTER WRENs, I still have winter visitor at my feeder in Bellevue, Nashville, TN. In particular I again saw the lone immature WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW at my feeders on Sunday evening. The molt into adult plumage that I first noticed just before I left for Australia is now well underway with white side stripes, but the two rufous stripes through the crown have not yet been replaced by black feathers. Thus, this bird is changing from the bottom up.
