The Whooping Cranes entered Tennessee yesterday. The group of cranes flew for 6 ½ hours, at which time one bird dropped out as the other four continued for another 1 ½ hours. The lone bird spent the night in McMinn County, while the other four spent the night in Fentress County. David Aborn from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, reported this morning that weather looks good for flying all week, so the birds will likely be out of Tennessee today, and may already be well on their way.
