Tuesday, 2008 April 8
7-9 am
cloudly, breezy

This Tuesday morning I toured Radnor Lake under cloudy
slightly depressing skies. Nevertheless, my morning soon
brightened as I found my first of the season male HOODED
WARBLER. Although silent, it stayed in view for a minute
or so. I walked up Otter Creek Road and at the corner of
the lake where the dirt road leads to the dam, I spotted
4 PINE SISKINs, who playfully chased each other from tree
to tree. An EASTERN PHOEBE greeted me at the dam. I
found more RUBY CROWNED KINGLETs about today than
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERs. At the east end of the lake I
spied a BARRED OWL near the bridge. Finally, a single
HORNED GREBE and a female BUFFLEHEAD were diving for food
in the east end of the lake.
