With the cold front that came through yesterday, I anticipated a good
morning (even moved a 9:00 meeting to 10:00) and wasn't disappointed.

April 29th is an interesting day for the yardlist. On 29 April 2005
I recorded 54 species in the yard, the largest single day tally I've
had in the yard since moving here in Jan 2002. Thanks in large part
to that day, I've observed a total of 69 species on the 29th of April
from 2002 through 2007, the most for any date. (Yes, I can be a
numbers nerd.)

The morning started slow but a large number of "Myrtle" Yellow-rumped
Warblers and 1 or 2 Black-throated Greens about 6:45AM were a good
sign. Just before 9AM the big wave hit (good thing I moved that
meeting). It only lasted about 20 minutes but lots of birds were
moving through. I'm sure I missed several. Only 6 warbler species
but 3 were new for the year bringing me up to 18 for the year (plus
"Audubon's") in the yard.

Best was a gorgeous male BAY-BREASTED WARBLER which was very co-operative
and posed for several minutes while singing. Made him difficult to
find at first but once I did.... This is only the 3rd spring Bay-
breasted for the yard and is a new early arrival date (previous
early date was 6 May). I got a few decent but distant photos, didn't
try to setup the digiscope setup.

Actually added 2 species (Bay-breasted and E Phoebe) to the tally
for this date so now I've got 71 species on 29 April. 37 species
in about 2.5 hrs.

Highlights below, first-of-season (FOS) in ALL CAPS.
