Here in the Charlotte Park section of West Nashville, my squirrels seem to enjoy the grape jelly I stuff into orange rinds so much that they leave my hummingbird sugar alone UNLESS I let the grape jelly run out. They compete hard with my cardinals & mockingbirds for that jelly, then the opossum comes in every night to finish off the jelly that I put out late. My cardinals and house finches like to sip from the hummingbird sugar water as well. I have a larger ant trap above my hummingbird feeder where just about all my birds go to drink water instead of the larger water "trough" beside the grape vine. The chickadees also like to soak (soften) their sunflower seeds in that ant trap, then forget to go back for them. I'm always emptying sunflower seeds from the ant trap.
