I have a small plastic hummingbird feeder to which one male and one female ruby throated hummingbirds have been coming (the male is new on the scene; the female has been here since spring) and in addition to the hummers, I enjoy watching other small birds (chickadees, titmice, goldfinch) drink from the small ant moat in the center. But I've had one visitor to the feeder that I am not thrilled with. A squirrel has been seen at the feeder 3 times this summer. It grabs hold of the feeder, tilts it and appears to be drinking sugar water that runs onto the bottom of the feeder. I've wondered why the feeder has felt sticky on the outside a few times when I've taken it down to change the water and now I think I know why. Anyone else ever had squirrels at their hummingbird feeders?
