Hi Folks, Last Thursday on my way to the ATBI conference in Gatlinburg (why to I cringe, every time I say or type that name?) I saw an adult Ring-billed Gull, my first ever in that town, though I'm sure those people who spend more time there have likely seen them often enough. Then this Sunday I saw 2 in Maryville - my first there for the season. Also Sunday, I saw my first Purple Finches of the season - 5 of them at Newfound Gap, flying east to west, so I guess I put them on my NC list before my TN list? As happens sometimes in the life of a teacher, I had conjunctivitis this week. Bad enough. Uncomfortable, had to miss work, felt like a leper. But that was nothing compared to my return to work. Someone had removed my computer desktop image and replaced it with... several pics of a House finch with conjunctivitis! And all the jokes about me touching dirty birds... sigh. It's tough being the only crazy birder in the office. Here's hoping you have healthy eyes!
