TN birders, I was in Knoxville yesterday and decided to run up to Boone Lake near the Tri-Cities Airport to look for the Red-necked Grebe which Rick Knight found earlier this week (see his earlier post), and which I have been trying to get on my TN list. I could not find it at the end of Lake Breeze Dr., so I tried to access the lake from the next road to the west which is Steadman Dr., and sure enough found the grebe toward the end of that road. The grebe was actually fairly close to shore and was catching and eating small fish. It may have been possible to see the bird from Lake Breeze with a good scope (mine was stolen out of my truck in Chatt. and I havent replaced it yet) but I saw it clearly from approx. 200 yards with my Swarovski 10x42s. Good birding!..., and thanks Rick Rick Waldrop Cleveland, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
