Thanks folks, I will have to give that a shot,
Once I get the definitive answer as to how much to strip off,
I will Compare what cartconv.exe does to the file... and report in.

I first tried to create a Simon's Basic cartridge
As a test, my first attempt at burning failed,
A byte was mismatched, so I erased it in my trusty
UV eraser for 10 minutes, and changed a jumper
And success, burned and verified correctly... so then I put it
In my blank 8/16K cartridge, set the dip switches accordingly
Put it in my C64, and sure enough it came up, screen changed colour
Reported extended basic etc, but no matter
What I typed I got an error... hmmm

So being the optimist that I am, I erased it again,
And tried some other .crt file, converted it, and
Burned it onto the eprom... this time Success.
It burned correctly, it verified correctly and then
Booted correctly...

But I could not see myself playing Jack Attack for very long.
So after the excitement of a successful burn wore off ( about 2 minutes ),
I erased My eprom, and went to bed... (it was 1:22 AM by this time...)

Pretty nifty...

Hi Walter -

I followed a method similar to what Brian Lyons laid out (although I
thought it was more than 2 bytes that were stripped off - but that was a
while ago so maybe....).

I downloaded the CRT file on my PC - put it onto a 720K disk and then
loaded the file into my Amiga (which reads the PC disk). Using a file
called AZAP I stripped off the first part of the file (whatever number
of bytes it was - strip off whatever preceeds the 8 bytes which preceed
the characters 'CBM80') -saved that shortened file onto a 1581 disk on
the Amiga and then read it into a C64 off the 1581. There you could run
it in the cartridge space (assuming it didn't have any protection) or
burn it into a 2764 EPROM - I used the Promenade burner on the C64.

A little more involved than doing it on the PC but I used the hardware I
had and kept it more Commodore :).
