Another production line they had going up on Pharmacy Avenue was for making
gas barbecues. They were made for some company called "Arkla." This name, I
believe, was derived from the words Arkansas and Louisiana, as most of the
units (if not all) were shipped to the southern U.S. One was given away at a
Commodore company golf tourney as a door prize, and I won it! Still using it
today over 26 years later! I've replaced the burner a few times and painted
it once, but I'm sure it still has another 10 years of service left in it!
