Hello,
I'm writing in hopes of finding an old Commodore program listing
written by Jim Butterfield in the early 1980's. The name of the
(basic) program was Run-Only, and it was designed to convert basic
programs so that they would auto-run upon loading from the disk drive.
(4040 or 8050 back in those days). I'm hoping somebody in the group
may have a copy of it in their archives.
The program attached a small file (to top of any basic program) that
overwrote the hardware stack (with #$02's) while loading, and forced
a small 6502 program to execute at location $0203. The small program
would do some minor housekeeping with the stack etc., and then place
the RUN command (with carriage return) in the keyboard buffer, and put
#$04 in the location for "number of keys in keyboard buffer". This, of
course, would cause the BASIC program to automatically run when it
finished loading.
Anyway, I know how the program works. I spent many hours studying it
back in my high school days, but I just can't recall some of the fine
details, and I'd like to revisit it now that there are good Commodore
emulators available to tinker with it.
I've tried "googling" on the web looking for listings, but I've had no
luck. Any assistance in locating this program would be greatly
appreciated.
