I didn't know that there was a change of key caps in the production of the
keyboard.
Was it just the key caps? or did they change the whole switch???
But just the same, it sounded like there was some sort of different keyboard
layout, but it's not that. Just the shape and print on the Keys.
I doubt this sort of thing would happen today. I mean, companies are so big
now, that nobody wants to change anything in a design for fear that it might
screw up the product. Back then.. people were fast to think on their feet!

Early Vic-20’s had keys that were shaped the same and had the same font as the
PET/CBM line of computers. Later Vic’s (and all 64’s) had re-designed keys
that were more rounded and had a smaller font. Early Vic-20’s are also known
as “Square key Vic-20’s”.
