Paradroid is one of my favourite games of all time and I play it often. I play it because I like the circuit puzzle required to 'take over' other droids and I don't really care about the goal, whatever it may be. As a result, I've never felt the need to try to finish the game. In fact, I never even bothered trying to finish the first ship. I suspected that Paradriod, like so many other games of that era, didn't have a clearly defined ending and probably went into an endless loop where you keep playing the same level(s) over and over until you get bored. Anyway, tonight I decided I would make an attempt to finish the first ship and see what happened. Sure enough, I got sent to another ship which looks pretty much like the first ship. <sigh> Do I have anything new and exciting to look forward to or is it just one identical ship after another? I should have left well enough alone. I'm reminded of my youth when I spent every quarter I could earn playing Tutankham (my favourite arcade game at the time) and I finally finished level 5 only to be returned to level 1. I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. Same thing happened to me with Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. and Donkey Kong 3. Pretty pathetic what passed for disillusionment in the 80's. :) -- Golan Klinger <gklinger@xxxxxxxxx> Dark is the suede that mows like a harvest.
