Ben,

 

I do not have the tape drive lid.

 

Appears I did have the back panel Robert needed and emailed him to get his
address.  Will be sending that to him.

 

Three weeks ago the panel was sitting on the floor of an old barn.  3 more
weeks and it will be on a hopefully working PET or soon to be.

 

Always great to see these machines restored.

I just picked up some PET parts from a barn and might have what you are

YMMV but for most people (including me ;-) cleaning and possibly a bit of
light sanding is all it takes and I think it's worth while to try that
before spending money on resurfacing the plungers.

 

For that, aside from the kits like the one you mention folks have used
rear-window-heater repair kits and also glued-on hole-punched foil disks.
I've used both on other keyboards, especially remote controls, but FWIW none
of the PETs I've worked on needed more than a good cleaning.

 

Maybe it depends on how and where the PETs have spent their lives; I've got
four on the bench right now; I'll let you know how they turn out ;-)

I re-and-re'd my keyboard and keys 3 times... Scrubbing away... each time it
got a bit better, but never perfect. Then I put my 4016 away for a few
months and when I broke it out again I was back to most keys not working.  A
year ago I used circuit works keypad repair kit [CH-CW2605] and all is good
as of today.

Usually all it takes is a bit of a rub down of the pcb with a *soft* eraser
and a good cleaning of the pcb and the key contacts with alcohol; in
stubborn cases a *very light* sanding of the key stems with fine grade emery
cloth does the job. Unlike cheap remote controls it's very rarely necessary
to coat the key pads with anything.

I should have an apostrophe key and spring somewhere; I'm not clear whether
you also need an R key or just the spring?
