Hey guys!
I am new to the group, but unfortunately won't be able to make it tomorrow to
meet you guys, maybe one of the next monthly meetings.
Back in the days I got my first computer (the C64 breadbox) at the age of 6 and
it is still somewhere in Germany at my parents, but don't know if it is still
functional (my brother claims it is his now ;-)
I am really interested in all 8-bit computing, my dream is to do something like
the 8-bit-guy is currently doing in building a dream 8-bit computer, where one
single person can understand all the internals.
Currently I am rather looking into reproducing 8-bit computers on FPGA (I
know...cheating). Was checking out the MiSTer implementation of the C64 on the
DE1-SoC and DE10-Standard boards and decided to scale that thing down to
something that fits on a much simpler board (DE10-Lite,

without all those fancy on screen displays, image loaders etc, just basically
porting the core and interfaces to peripherals. Once I got that functional and
showing up on the VGA output, the next step would be to have a small interface
card for keyboard, joysticks, floppy etc. on top of it using the Arduino
headers. All just part of a longer term plan to have something like a
supercharged C64 on a single FPGA (without requiring extra external memory),
allowing for VGA output.
