I've actually overhauled the drive in the +3, so it's fully functional.
I've got a handful of disks too :)
What I haven't done yet is the audio output fix, so it doesn't sound
anywhere near as good as a +2 or a toastrack (Spectrum 128 for everyone
else's benefit)
I've also got an SD adaptor (DivMMC Future in this case) and a little 7"
display. https://i.imgur.com/KjvvJxU.jpg I've also got a little 4:3 17" LCD
TV that'll take a PAL input, which is a little better for general use
I've got plans to get a CPC, but they're undergoing something of a revival
at the moment and the prices have jumped significantly

I'd also be happy to bring along examples
of the 80s UK systems I have in my collection (I've got a ZX Spectrum, a
ZX Spectrum +3, and a BBC Micro model B) if people are be interested.
I have a fully working (prays to the Electrolytic Capacitor Gods ...)
Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48 system with tiny monitor and Retroleum SMART
card SD/joystick adapter. I can bring it along. If you're all vewwy
vewwy quiet you'll be able to hear the amazing multichannel sound it can
do all by PWM'ing a single bit.
There are a bunch of folks on this list who have UK machines. I've seen
a couple of BBC Bs here at TPUG. There's even a member with an
unfortunate Acorn Atom problem (we hope he gets better ...). I must have
lived in a C64 dry zone too in Scotland - I knew twice as many Dragon 32
(Tandy CoCo-like thing) owners as I did C64 owners.
While it's unlikely your +3's disk drive still works (it's the drive
belts) please bring it as people need to see what a _proper_ disk drive
looks like. I was an Amstrad CPC user for years, and all floppies that
aren't 3" floppies are just wrong.
For added retro joy, I can take people's portraits with my Mavica FD91
floppy disc camera, c.1998. It's full XGA resolution and stores 7 whole
images on a floppy!
cheers,
Stewart
