We track the passing of our 1,000th bird of the season, to see how our season
is progressing, compared to others. Yesterday, we reached that mark and last
year it was on April 3rd, both dates a little earlier than average, despite
some loss of coverage due to weather and a very cold winter and cold early
spring. The bird was a Turkey Vulture...they are about at their peak movement
at this site now. We will begin seeing more hawks, Ospreys and Bald Eagles soon.
