Hi Folks!
I was very excited to find a female Common Goldeneye today at Pleasure
House Point. I had not realized it was a bird anyone else had seen yet
until I checked eBird just now. My target was the Eurasian Wigeon, which I
again could not locate. But the goldeneye surely takes the sting out. I see
now that 4 other people have reported it on eBird in the last 2 days, so
wanted to send this out letting folks know that it was again present today.
It flushed and headed westward up the creek, but could well have stopped on
one of the other wooded ponds in the park. It was located on the pond where
the deer carcass was dumped, on the upstream end near the eastern terminus
of Marlin Bay Drive.

I also did a 6 mile walk in the morning at First Landing State Park and got
to add a number of woodland birds to my year list including: Red-bellied &
Downy Woodpecker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Brown-headed Nuthatch,
Golden-crowned Kinglet, Tufted Titmouse. I also added a Common Loon out on
Broad Bay, but the bird of the hike was a lone Hermit Thrush that was
spotted in thick foliage (photos will be up later tonight on my site).
