David Spears and I were surprised to see a GREAT EGRET at a small private
reservoir in Buckingham yesterday. Even though the eBird filter did not
classify this sighting as Rare, this is likely one of the first winter
records for the South-Central Piedmont. We also got great looks at a few
RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS and several GREAT BLUE HERONS. The lake was frozen
solid so no ducks were present.
