The 14th Annual Kiptopeke Challenge is set to be held on Saturday,
September 13, 2008!
The Kiptopeke Challenge is the primary fundraiser for the Coastal
Virginia Wildlife Observatory (CVWO). Many of you are aware of CVWO's
work and their commitment to avian research, conservation and public
education. The CVWO is responsible for the spring songbird banding at
First Landing SP and several programs at Kiptopeke SP throughout the
fall. These include a hawk watch, hawk banding, Monarch Butterfly
tagging, and songbird banding.
Kiptopeke Challenge teams are forming now, and it is my hope that some
of you will consider forming a team of your own! There are several
categories in which a team can participate: 24-hour, 3-hour, youth team,
and a "special venue" location. The main competition and subsequent
awards are limited to teams who bird Accomack and Northampton Counties,
Virginia.
