The 14th Annual Kiptopeke Challenge is just days away - Saturday,
September 13th!
The Kiptopeke Challenge is the principle fundraiser for the Coastal
Virginia Wildlife Observatory (CVWO). Many of you are aware of the work
of the CVWO and their commitment to avian research, conservation and
public education. The CVWO is responsible for the spring songbird
banding at First Landing SP, and several programs at Kiptopeke SP
throughout the fall. These include a hawk watch, hawk banding, Monarch
Butterfly tagging, and songbird banding - Many thanks to bander Jethro
Runco and fellow staff members for their daily field reports to the list
serve & banding station blog!
It is my hope that you will support the 2008 Kiptopeke Challenge by
making a financial pledge to the CVWO, or better yet, to one of the nine
teams already entered in the event: Augusta Bald Eagles (Capt., Allen
Larner), The Birding Tribe (Capt., Dan Cristol), Brown-headed Nut Cases
