Larry:
I guess there's no way to access these on line? What about older
editions?

Subject: [va-bird] 49th AOU supplement- Canada Goose broken out
The July issue of the Auk arrived today with the 49th AOU supplement. The
most interesting information is that small forms of Canada Geese have been
split from large forms. The new smaller species will be referred to as the
Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii). details on page 987.
Also, for those who have visited Alaska, the most recent genetic studies
provided evidence to separate the Yellow Wagtail. The one occurring in the ABA
area (breeding in North America and regularly migrating through western Alaska)
is now the Eastern Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla tschutschensis). details on page
992.
There are some name changes: Mongolian to Lesser Sand-Plover for example.
Yea, I should be in bed rather than relaying this stuff- I'm nuts- but I
thought someone might be excited to add a life bird or two to their lists.
