The Auk issue in question ought to be available here:
http://www.bioone.org/bioone/?request=get-toc&issn=0004-8038&volume=121&issue=03
but the server says "we're unable to process your
request"...

Subject: [va-bird] 49th AOU supplement- Canada Goose broken out
The July issue of the Auk arrived today with the 49th AOU supplement. =
The most interesting information is that small forms of Canada Geese have =
been split from large forms. The new smaller species will be referred to =
as the Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii). details on page 987.
Also, for those who have visited Alaska, the most recent genetic studies =
provided evidence to separate the Yellow Wagtail. The one occurring in =
the ABA area (breeding in North America and regularly migrating through =
western Alaska) is now the Eastern Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla tschutschensis=
). details on page 992. =20
There are some name changes: Mongolian to Lesser Sand-Plover for =
example. Yea, I should be in bed rather than relaying this stuff- I'm =
nuts- but I thought someone might be excited to add a life bird or two to =
their lists. =20
