Hi,
Today I saw and photographed a rather pale Red-shouldered Hawk in
Arrowbrook Park in Herndon, VA, see picture below:

RSHAs are the most common hawks in my neck of the woods, and I see them
regularly. Most adult individuals I have seen are more richly colored, for
example, see the following picture for comparison:

So, dare I ask: could this be a Florida subspecies? I know this is a
stretch, and likely will turn out to be wishful thinking. But I looked at
some guidebooks and pictures online, let's say that I concluded that at
least I should ask the question. So, what do you think? Just a color
variation?
