Today ( 3 /30/12) while looking at the Eagle family along the Wildlife Loop at
Chincoteague when a flock of Snowy and Great Egrets fly and land behind me on
Snow Goose Pond. After showing the Eagles to some Children and a few birders ,I
turn to look at the egret flock and notice a Great Egret with a Jet black bill.
I jumped with excitement of the return of the African Great Egret 3 years in
a row now since my first sighting. I took a few good photos of the bird and
pointed out the Egret to a few birders including one from Cape May NJ.
If anyone goes to find the Egret best place to look it along the Wildlife Loop
and scan through all Egrets that you see. The African Great Egret is about the
same size of the Great Egrets but with a black bill that really stands out.
Birding forever
