One eagle was perched on the large tree in the island for the duration, the
other apparently hunkered down in the nest.
At National Airport there were 3 horned grebe (including one in the inlet at
the end of the runway)and 16 red-breasted mergansers midstream with the
gathering roost of gulls.
We didn't see any sign of snowy owl but did watch a Short-eared owl at first on
the ground near the red and white checkered hut and then apparently hunting
from perches nearby and flying short distances.
