I decided to run over to Dutch Gap at lunchtime and take a chance on locating the American Bittern that Harry got last week. I parked at the first platform and walked to about 20 feet from the second platform when I happened to see something move and saw it zipping back into the reeds. I went to the second platform and stayed very still and quiet for a few minutes and it came back out. Cars would go by and it would zip back in...it is very skiddish. But I did get a couple pics!

Other than that there were more ducks there than two weeks ago when I was there but not in very close. ring necks, shovelers, coots, etc. There was also quite a bit of bird activity on the road in, but I was hunting bittern, so didn't spend much time there.

Thanks Harry for the post!
