Hello all,
I went to check on the Amherst lakes this morning. At Mill Creek Lake I had:
Caspian Tern- 1 flyover
R B Gull- 5 flyover
D C Cormorants- 5
Ruddy Duck- 2 male in breeding plumage and 1 female
Winter Wren- 1
Thrashers Lake:
Wood Duck- 1 pair in a tree.
Field going to Stonehouse:
Savannah Sparrow- 1 sitting on fence
Horned Lark- heard only
Then I decided to drive to Long Island to check on the B H Nuthatch.
The pair is taking up residence in a stump. They were carrying cow hair from
the barbed wire fence across the road and carrying it to the nest hole
in the stump.
I then went to Long Island Park. There I got 2 Bald Eagles. One adult and I
think a 2nd or 3rd yr bird. I also got 2 Purple Finch at the
pavillion. I also got
about 50 Snipe past the BH Nuthatch spot were the marshy spot is on Rt 637
Whitehall Rd off of Long Island Rd in Gladys.
