I have had a particularly slow fall migration so far in my local patch
(suburban Annandale, Fairfax County). Just one true migrant - a Tennessee
Warbler - and several 'local' migrants - Yellow-billed Cuckoos and American
Redstarts - which don't seem to breed within the patch.
Today was the same, with only one true migrant - the first Philadelphia
Vireo that I have ever found here. It was at the east end (Tobin Road) of
Eakin Park. Picture-perfect view. More than one bird might have been there.
