Dear Folks: Arlington County is conducting its Bioblitz this Saturday May
20 and I will lead a birding team at Long Branch Nature Center from 8-10
AM. The aim is to identify every species of bird we can find, taking photos
when possible. Unlike bird counts, we do not need to count numbers; the
focus is on species.
I am hoping that interested folks will join me as we roam around Long
Branch. I could use some better birders than myself!! We will meet at the
Long Branch Nature Center parking lot at 8 AM. Depending on turn-out, we
may split up into sub-teams.
The Bioblitz will capture data using the iNaturalist app. I will deal with
that. I also would like to capture data in eBird and of course there we
will maintain a count of numbers we observe as well as species.

Finally, if you bird anywhere in Arlington on May 20 and record your
observations in eBird, I’m told they will be harvested and used to help
fill out the species list, so have at it!
