I had a surprisingly early visitor to the leaf mister in my yard this Friday
morning, August 3 -- a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, a male in breeding plumage
showing a bright yellow crown.
In recent years, the earliest fall migrant warblers I had seen in my yard
were: a Black-and-White on 8/4/04, and American Redstarts on 8/12/06, 8/14/04,
and 8/15/05. The next earliest date was a Canada Warbler on 8/19/05.
