- Comments: "This is the bird that has been here at Chincoteague for several
months. Brown on top, whitish below, long godwit bill pink at base with dark
tip; streaky back, light line over eye. He gave his fans a nice view of his
white, barred tai when he was preening. He was near the road, wading
in shallow
water, with the sun at a good angle. This bird was smaller than the
two marbled
godwits nearby, more the size of the greater yellowlegs that were also
close by.
One of the other birders in a group nearby let me peek through her scope for a
great view (thank you). Also noticed thebar-tailed godwit's legs were shorter
than those of the yellowlegs."
Previous last reports were from late September. Did people just stop
looking?
